about cookies.
The LOOK web site uses small data files (or, “cookies”)
to make the login and search processes much easier
for users.
What are Cookies?
The term, “cookies,’ was originally
derived from the computer jargon term, “fortune
cookies.” Fortune cookies were small UNIX programs
that output different messages (or “fortunes”)
each time they were used. Today, the term, “cookies” refers
to small data files (or, blocks of data) that web
sites use to deliver specialized data to individual
users. Cookies can only be read by the server that
gave them, and are designed to let the server know
that a specific user has returned to the web site.
The use of cookies saves users the trouble of reintroducing
themselves to the web site each time a page is visited.
Some web sites use cookies to tailor themselves to
a particular user based on information provided by
that user, or (if a page is personalized) a cookie
is used to remember that information.
Why do I Need Cookies to use the LOOK Web
Site?
Cookies make the use of the LOOK web site
easier, and are primarily used to remember login
information and image searches. It is recommended
that users allow the use of cookies when using the
LOOK web site. Note: Problems logging into the
LOOK web site may be encountered if the use of cookies
is disabled.
